Happenings for the Week of December 12th

The fruit is on its way.  With the weather indicating a light, wintry mix we hope the fruit will arrive on time tomorrow morning, but pick-up is still scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon.  Most members that sold fruit have signed up a time to pick up their fruit tomorrow afternoon.  The most crowded and chaotic time will again be right after school.  We have pre-packed some orders in hopes of expediting pick-up but it will still be quite crowded right after school.  If you want to have the quickest check-out, we recommend coming in after 4:30, that is when it should start to slow down.  We do want to emphasize that fruit needs to be picked up Monday and delivered, it at all possible, on Monday.  We do not have the space or ability to store the food items overnight.  Payment is due at delivery so we hope to have all funds collected by Wednesday so we can hand out incentives at our meeting next Monday (12/19).  Anyone that can help sort and check fruit out is still welcome to help after 1:00 on Monday.

While the fruit sales delivery has taken up most of our attention, we also have an invitational contest next week.  Thursday we are planning on taking FFA members up to the University of Minnesota to compete in the Winter Invitational contests.  The bus will be leaving from the shop at 7:00am sharp.  Remember to eat a good breakfast because we likely won't be eating lunch until 12:30-1:00.  Bring $5 for lunch.  We will be competing in the Small Animals, Floriculture, Nursery &  Landscape, and Farm Management contests.  Students will be getting permission slips and absence forms on Tuesday.

We have a meeting next Monday at 7:15 in the Ag Classroom.  We hope to hand out the fruit sales incentives and discuss the status of proficiency and state degree awards.  We are going to schedule an officer retreat and a computer work day over break to help everyone complete their awards.
